Eating out: Al Diafah

Al Diafah Restaurant is a fine dining restaurant located in Sri Petaling that serves middle eastern cuisine. It made headlines a couple of years ago in NST for spending close to RM5 million just on renovation! The restaurant looks really classy and elegant, money well spent!



There are plenty of choices to choose from the menu: arrays of drinks, hot & cold appetizers, dishes and desserts. We ordered a starter, a tuna with bread and a rice to share.


Iced Lemon Tea, RM10

This is Hui Yee's iced lemon tea. Cute isn't it? I've never seen it served individually and she gets to mix around till she got to the perfect combo.


Vegetable samosa, RM10

I've always loved its vegetable samosa. It is cripsy on the outside and soft, warm fillings inside. There's turnips and carrots fillings. It came with a creamy sauce with cubed cucumbers and carrots.


Tuna with bread, RM10

Lovely taste. Chunky tuna cooked in a tomato sauce, fresh chili and lots of herbs. It really tasted middle eastern flavor. You get to dip into the dish with bread (sort of like naan).




Kabsa rice with chicken, RM20

This is a rather huge portion. Just look at the mountainous size, strictly for sharing. Unless one manages to finish half of a chicken and the rice! We shared this amongst the 3 of us! The rice is actually cooked in herbs and tomato sauce, thus the color. Then again, there isn't the slightest taste of the sweetness of tomato, more on the herbs flavoring. There are 2 other types of rice to choose from too.



Who was at the dinner? As usual, there are Hui Bao and I. We came up to meet with long time college pal, Hui Yee. It's been 2 years since we last met.



Meeting Hui Yee brought back lotsa memories of college time. How we used to hang out almost nightly for supper, yum cha at the mamaks, late night movies and even to catch some sea breeze off the beach! Must plan for more meet ups :D
