Catastrophe

The main topic of our dailies lately has to be the disasters that are taking place. The terrible cyclone that hit Myanmar shores last week and now, the disastrous quake that hit China.

I can’t help but feel sad for those who lost family, relatives and friends in those awful tragedies. Photos of cyclone survivors in Myanmar are all over the internet and papers. They are starving, hurt, sick and in need of shelter. From the televised news, the Junta only visited the survivors that were sheltered and fed. What about those who were without shelter, food and access to clean environment?

Just last week, this idiotic Junta was denying aids from foreign countries like United States, Australia and France. Luckily they came to their senses and permitted them. These humanitarians are only bringing food, medical supplies and clean clothes to the survivors. I don’t call them victims for they survived the deadly cyclone :) Praise these humanitarians for being compassionate in what they do. Have you noticed that Australians and French are always the first few when it comes to aiding country in need?

Not even a week later, the earthquake struck at highly populated Sichuan province in China. Children were at school when the quake hit. Many did not make it to safety and were buried under the rubbles. Hopefully there won’t be any further casualties other than the figure reported.

Let us all pray for them.
