Eating out: Prego

Prego is an Italian restaurant located in Westin, Kuala Lumpur. I have heard much about this restaurant but have yet to try it. Until this faithful day of mine arrived... and off we went to Prego! It is famous for its dress code: Come As You Are!

Prego operates on an open kitchen concept. This modern and stylish environment is more hygienic and it warms up the atmosphere amongst diners.

We were given complimentary bread with tomato paste. The bread is slightly salted, while the tomato paste is sweet with a little tangy flavor added to it. Our dear waitress then asked if we would prefer sparkling or still mineral water. I chose the latter as my parents don't fancy the former. It took us a while to decide on our main course. Gan is rather clueless when it comes to Italian food, I had to decide for him instead :P

Bruschetta Tres, priced at RM26

I ordered Bruschetta Tres as our starter. The toasted breads is topped with tomato, smoked salmon and chickpeas respectively. The smoked salmon does not have the oaky smell like in some restaurants.

Penne Bolognese, priced at RM24

My dad played it safe by ordering Penne Bolognese. It is pretty dry compared to other Bolognese which is usually wetter. My mom had Grilled Spatchcock. It is marinated in herbs and chargrilled to perfection.

Grilled Spatchcock, priced at RM42

Crumbed Halibut, priced at RM52

Pui Kwan went for its seafood. This is Crumbed Halibut. It tasted pretty good. Underneath the piece of fish, lies the crispyness of the breadcrumbs and tomatoes.

Salt-Crust Sea Bass, priced at RM49

This is what I ordered for Gan, Salt-Crust Sea Bass. Gan is not a fan of meaty nor cheesey food. He too, went for its seafood. It was served with potatoes and onions.

Prego Pronto, priced at RM68

I ordered Prego Pronto, which is set menu of the day: asparagus with air-dried beef as appetizer, Fettuccine Smoked Chicken as my main course, strawberry sorbet for dessert with accompanying coffee/tea. I had to have pasta whenever I visit an Italian restaurant for the first time. Pasta/Pizza is the most basic dish to a good Italian restaurant. My carbonara fettuccine is rich and creamy. It was totally a yumz.

As much as I want to revisit Prego, it certainly burn ones pocket. I guess this will be my first and last time dining in. There are other Italian restaurants that are equally good, if not better. Thanks papa and mommy for this birthday treat. Love you both to bits for spoiling me! Muacks!
